Project overview

IAC were appointed as Archaeological Consultants on the landmark redevelopment of the historic Boland’s Mill site in the Docklands. This project required a detailed archaeological and industrial heritage impact assessment as part of the planning process, and in-depth recording of remains throughout the construction phase. The conserved industrial mill buildings are part of the city’s cultural heritage and their preservation within a wider mixed-use development for future generations was a significant achievement for all involved. Timelapse footage of the construction phase was captured by Evercam and is available to view on their website.

Archaeological monitoring of groundworks identified 18th century reclamation deposits as well as estuarine deposits which were sealed beneath the reclamation layers.
