Kilsallaghan Solar Farm
Project overview
IAC were appointed to carry out all pre-construction phase archaeological services for the Solar PV development at Kilsallaghan, Co. Dublin. This involved preparation of a detailed desktop assessment and mitigation strategy to accompany the approved planning application. This was followed by a geophysical survey and a targeted programme of extensive test trenching across the development footprint to investigate any anomalies of potential. These revealed archaeological remains representing prehistoric burnt mound activity and features relating to medieval and post-medieval settlement and industrial work, including ditches, cultivation furrows, a kiln and brick kiln. A further strategy was proposed to mitigate impact of the development.
